‘I have followed my childhood dream’

About

Ludovic teaches in Tignes, surrounded by values such as sharing and mutual assistance.

Ludovic, who initially worked as a PE teacher for the Ministry of National Education, ‘has followed his childhood dream’. He spent a season in Tignes but never left. Since then, he loves skiing on the slopes of the area, especially on the dell of Sache, Les Vallonés, the Col du Palais and Génépi. Ludovic arrived in this resort about 20 years ago, when voluntarily escorting the French parasport team training in Tignes in preparation for the Nagano Olympic Games. Concurrently, he needed an activity to earn a living, and this is why he starting working for the ESF, a ski school which for him reflects professionalism, passion, excellence, sharing and mutual assistance. Ludovic, who initially comes from Poitiers, now works as an instructor specialised in hiking, handi skiing, off-piste, snowshoeing and snowboarding. He offers his lessons in French, but also in English, and bases his teaching method on confidence-building and personalisation. For him, learners comprehend things differently- some of them need to understand before trying, while others prefer to experiment first. The trick is to shorten time-outs.

From these 20 years of experience as an instructor, Ludovic has only kept nice memories, from his novices’ pleasure when they thought they were not able to do anything on the slopes and who finally succeeded, to the communicative pleasure of skiers who try off-piste for the first time though they thought they could never do so, and ‘the happiness of two disabled skiers in the dell of Sache, who thought they could never come back to the mountain’.

Although Ludovic, who also taught in Val Thorens before Tignes, is addicted to winter sports, he also practices kitesurfing, surfing, mountain biking and loves renovation. This instructor also enjoys skiing abroad; actually, he spent 10 days in Canada to practice heliskiing- a ‘long and fabulous’ journey!
