‘Without skiing, life would be a mistake’

About

According to Philippe, 'the important thing is not the place, but rather people you slide with!'

Philippe learnt how to ski when he was only two years-old. As he grew up, he practiced this sport during competitions. He then had the opportunity to carry out expeditions abroad, and these experiences allowed him to discover other cultures and different ways of comprehending skiing, which opened his mind.

Philippe comes from Jura and works as a hiking guide and off-piste instructor. He gives his lessons in French and in English in ESF, a ski school which for him conveys certain values, such as friendship, performance, mutual assistance, and friendliness. He has been teaching for 34 years and decided to follow this career path because of his passion for skiing and for mountains.

Philippe discovered the resort of Tignes when he was younger, when training with his sports club. He immediately liked this resort, where he now lives all year round. Philippe is very pleased to live in an area he loves, while practicing his passion. Over the past few years, he has only kept nice memories, and especially friendly moments during hiking and off-piste sessions, which he had the opportunity to share with his learners.

Even though skiing is Philippe’s favourite sport, he is also fascinated by another activity- cycling, his second passion. By a matter of fact, he also works as an instructor certified by the state in cycling activities. Apart from this sport, Philippe likes travelling and spending time with his family.
